Luminosity provides an exciting insight into the creative potential of technology. Vibrant and functional, she embodies 21st Century yachting.

ABOUT
THE TECHNICAL AND CREW AREAS
There is an extraordinary freedom in ripping up the rule book of traditional yacht design and engineering. Luminosity has used groundbreaking new technologies and materials to create a yacht of the future, from her hybrid propulsion and game-changing use of glass, through to the myriad sustainable and practical requirements for long-range, eco-friendly cruising.
SUSTAINABLE
CRUISING

One of the flagship ‘green’ yachts in the global superyacht fleet, Luminosity doesn’t sacrifice an inch of power or comfort in the quest for more sustainable cruising. A state of the art hybrid propulsion system switches between 6 heavily soundproofed C32 Caterpillar generators and whisper-silent Azipod electric propulsion. The huge, gleaming engine room offers a glimpse of the future, with its bank of 36 tonnes of advanced Lithium Polymer batteries offering 3 megawatts per hour, providing enough power for 10 hours of silent operation at anchor with zero emissions, or 12 hours of cruising. Batteries also kick in when a power surge is required, offering valuable redundancy as well as an instant power boost for improved manoeuvrability.
Eco-friendly solutions are incorporated throughout the yacht’s systems and processes, from a carefully calibrated Power Management System to ensure that generators are used optimally, to soot-cleaning filters and clever waste disposal and management systems. Sustainability is built into every aspect of the yacht in clever ways, such as a separate water tank for condensation from the air conditioning systems which is then used to wash down the yacht. The 37-strong crew have developed rigorous processes that improve the yacht’s eco-efficiencies while not impacting guest comfort.

LONG RANGE
AUTONOMY
To build a machine that can achieve long-range, long-term cruising, designers had to consider much more than the size of the fuel tanks, which deliver an outstanding 8,000NM range. Luminosity’s dry and cold storage areas carry enough stores for 8 months’ worth of provisions, with special rooms for flower storage and cigars. Crew spaces are carefully considered, with large cabins, a magnificent stainless steel galley, and an oversize laundry. Tender and toy storage is also a factor on a yacht travelling to exotic and remote locations, with a range of tenders and landing craft stored in the side-opening tender garage, as well as on the sundeck, where one of the yacht’s two helipads has its own firefighting and refuelling station. Luminosity also has its own hospital on the Lower Deck with a dedicated air sanitation system, with the helipad serving an essential role in medical evacuation anywhere in the world.

500 kilometres of fibre optic cabling and two rack rooms deliver state of the art audiovisual and comms systems throughout the yacht. Two 3.5m satellite dishes guarantee global connectivity, including Cat 8 super-fast broadband. There are 74 televisions throughout the yacht, including spectacular media walls that can be programmed to display different natural environments during your time aboard.

The Upper Lower Deck is a technical and services deck, housing the Engine Control Room, gensets, switchboard room and Advanced Lithium Polymer battery bank. Moving forward, you’ll find the extensive cold storage and freezers, flower room and cigar room, plus the oversize laundry.
